SnowSports Northwest

Our group lessons provide a fun, safe, exciting environment for you and your child to learn to ski or snowboard. This six-week program runs near the SSNW lodge at Summit Central. We offer six two-hour lessons especially geared toward your age and ability. The classes are intimate groups of 4-6 children to insure safety and enhance the learning experience. Our short gentle terrain, close to our meeting area, makes it easy for our young students to learn the basics of moving on the snow. During the two-hour class, students will explore the mountain, make new friends, play snow games, all while learning the basics of turning, riding the lifts, and navigating the snowy terrain.

1. First time on skis
2. Can walk and glide. Basic wedge turns (green circle runs)
3. Solid linked wedge turns on easy terrain (green circle runs)
4. Skis all green terrain with wedge or beginning wedge christy turns (green circle runs)
5. Solid wedge christy with some ski matching (parallel) (green circle runs)
6. Beginning open parallel on green and easy blue terrain (blue square runs)
7. Solid open parallel on blue and easy black terrain (blue square runs)
8. Dynamic parallel on groomed black terrain, some bumps (advanced black diamond runs)
9. Dynamic parallel on all terrain and all conditions (advanced black diamond runs)

1. Never been on the hill before
2. Can skate and glide. Falling leaf and get on the chairlift (green circle runs)
3. Linking skidded turns on green terrain (green circle runs)
4. Linking skidded turns on blue terrain (blue square runs)
5. Linking skidded turns on black terrain and carving on green/blue (blue square runs)
6. Carved turns on all terrain in all conditions (advanced black diamond runs)
